"No! It's mine!"

This Sunday

I wasn't going to blog about this because it doesn't speak well of my parenting. But, I'm so proud of my children that I feel compelled to write about it.

This Sunday Captain Awesome went back to work. So I took the kids to church on my own. So of course I took the kids directly to the quiet room. Well it was full when we got there. I guess I should get to church more than 5 minutes before Mass starts:D Anyway, I thought "Ok, I'll take them in. I'll just have to leave when they get out of control." Well they were good. So good in fact, that God himself was probably shocked. When we left Rooster used the Holy Water and made the sign of the Cross. I was floored. Are these my kids? And why is it that when your kids are naughty at church (or anywhere for that matter) you run into EVERYONE you know? But, when your kids are shockingly well-behaved you don't see anyone you know.....What's with that?

This is posted under shenanigans because something is up.....maybe they are setting me up. It must be some sort of conspiracy;)

Family Fun Night

Tonight was Family Fun Night at the school. Big Dog and I were Roosters guests. Rooster enjoyed her pizza and salad. Big Dog enjoyed the toppings of his slice of pizza.

There were lots of activities and games.
There were lots of crafts too. Rooster made this caterpillar as well as a butterfly, and tree.
Rooster took lots of photos of people. I was looking through the photos and was amazed by how many people posed for her. They would wave for her and stuff. I thought that was pretty sweet:) I would post them but I didn't get permission. I did get permission to post this one of Miss Amanda. Yes, it's THE MISS AMANDA that Rooster was pretending to be:D This one will be on Roosters photography blog with some other interesting pictures she took tonight.
Big Dog found some letters. Why would an X be just laying around on a floor? :D
But what impressed him the most was the letters on the wall. He excitedly galloped back and forth across the floor looking at them.

At one point he actually tried to climb up to the letters. His alphabet obsession has gone to new heights. Hardy har har.

This is a picture of him coming down from the bleachers.

Lenten Adventure--holyheroes.com

Stephanie told me about this site. We are really behind. Rooster took our Mary statue and had it at the foot of this picture of Jesus on the cross. I don't know if she knew what she was doing. But, I took it as an opportunity to explain why Mary is called the "Mother of sorrow", and how sad she must have been when Jesus was crucified.

Big Dog is a manly man

Big Dog must have taken Captain Awesome's "Manly Man" song to heart.

Have you ever read a bumper sticker and said

"I know I'd like that person"? It happened twice today. The first bumper sticker I thought was funny was on a truck of a middle aged man it read Out law illegal aliens, not guns.

And then I saw this one.

I know someone who would appreciate this one.

GH has mad skillz

GH has learned to stack rings. Hooray!!!!

Trip to the Zoo

Somehow we missed the bus this morning when it stopped at our house. We were planning on going to the zoo in the afternoon. So we took this as a sign that we should just go early. It worked well because we missed rush hour traffic.

The kids had a great time. We went to the Jungle exhibit first.

Rooster actually touched this little guy. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of that.
The kids loved the waterfalls. GH was especially impressed.
Rooster spent a lot of time admiring different types of birds.
We always try to get pictures of the kids next to the model penguins. Big Dog was really impressed by them.
Big Dog was excited by the model penguins but that didn't prepare him for the real penguins.

GH enjoyed watching the penguins swim back and forth.
The aquarium was probably the favorite stop during the trip. Big Dog loved the penguins. Rooster said her favorite part was the sea horses and jelly fish. GH seemed to love the aquarium tunnel.

GH loved watching the fish. Whenever he saw this one particular orange fish he squawked with excitement.

Rooster admiring the jellyfish. I was really excited to see the new butterfly exhibit and I thought the kids would be too.
This picture reminds me of the cartoon show call The Littles.
The kids saw a few butterflies. But, didn't really enjoy the exhibit.
We saw some big cats. Big Dog loved growling at them. GH wanted to see the cats but couldn't see them from the stroller. So I had to pull him out of the stroller at every display.
This guy walked beside us for awhile. Then posed for this picture. Isn't he wonderful!
GH and Rooster enjoyed being up close to the primates. Big Dog wasn't really impressed with them.
Big Dog was impressed with the Dwarf Mongooses. We talked about them for a while and he giggled, pointed and exclaimed "Mongoose!" He was pretty impressed with them:D
Anyway, sorry for the huge post but we had a great time.
