Roosters room update

Overhearing the Big Dog

Last night before bed. Big Dog took my cell, flipped it open, and began pacing back and forth across the room. Then he said into the phone "I need to talk to a person".

Hmmmm I think he learned that from watching my numerous calls to our cable company.

This morning Big Dog took a pretty big fall at the park. I ran over to him and asked him if he was ok. He told me "I a man" in a gruff voice.

He is my little man:)

Liturgical Year--- Saint Peter and Paul

Today the church celebrates the work of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. The ladies at the 4RealLearning sites had some great ideas. Most of which I couldn't do because my kids are so young. But, we did have a small activity. We made tents out of blankets in remembrance of Paul. And since Peter was a fisherman we ate Goldfish crackers. The kids seemed to enjoy this activity. Big Dog really liked pulling the tents down. Rooster and GH enjoyed eating the crackers:)

Today was a good day with the kids. We were able to run some errands, play in the park and visit the ice cream parlor.

Roosters outdoor painting experience

Rooster loves painting outdoors. She helped me make sidewalk paint out of cornstarch, water and food color.
She wanted some time with the easel to paint the garden. She likes her sunflower room and wanted to paint it.
Last week I got fed up with kids taking their paintings (that hadn't dried yet) all over the house. I decided to put up a clothes line to hang wet painting up outside.

Little foot prints

Wacky little Rooster

Things I have overheard Rooster say today.

1) "Mom, my tat is gone." (Her "tat" is the temporary tattoo she got at school)

2) When the gentlemen seated next to us at Mass went up for Communion. Rooster said, "Have fun".

After Mass the guy told me "I had seven kids. The first four were boys. So I could tell you some stories." :D Yeah, my kids weren't well behaved at church today.

Piggy Piles

When Captain Awesome was a boy his father use to take him and his siblings to cut wood. According to the stories I've heard they had to go up into the Ozark mountains of Oklahoma. They would slave away even in the bitter cold to fill up the back of the truck with firewood. (I think Shelia said she use to pretend she was in a tropical island to keep warm) After the kids were done slaving away they got paid in "piggy piles." Which consisted of a half can of pop and a small pile of M&M's.

Rooster works very hard to keep our yard "stick free"...or at least more stick free than it would be without her assistance. So I figured the girl earned herself some piggy piles.

Rooster didn't care for the pop. I think there is just too much carbonation in it. But, she did enjoy her piggy pile of M&M's.

Letter of the Week ---More F activities

Rooster planted some flowers.

I put flour and white cookie cutters in a bowl. GH like running the flour through his fingers and toes:) The letters were a little hard to find. But, I would say he did a pretty good job:)

Roosters room makeover

Rooster had the most hideous room ever. So yesterday and today I did a little painting. I'm not an artist or painter by any stretch of the imagination. But, I figured I couldn't make it look worse. Even though it isn't perfect and I still have a lot of work to do. You can get a pretty good idea of what I have done so far. Tomorrow I will find a nice curtain rod and curtains:)

You are looking at the ONLY room in our house that has any color on the walls.

I had planned on leaving the ceiling white. But, Rooster was insistent that she wanted the white gone. I ended up painting it green. She really likes it. But, she wants pink in the room too. So I'm going to paint her dresser, and shelves pink.

Good Lord girl.....why don't you hop on the cheese ball train?

Special thanks to Shelia who talked me through painting. She said she wished she lived closer so she could help me paint. I wish you lived closer so you could help me paint too:) BTW--Captian says I can do the boys room next. I can't beleive it. Woohoo!!!

(Letter F Activity) Farm Sensory box

This idea came courtesy of ABC 123 Cooperative (in my list of blogs). GH (and Rooster) enjoyed this sensory box.
Hello Mr. Farmer

What do we have here?

A horse of course.

Woohooo sensory boxes rock!

Looking fabulous!!!

fun in the water

This is the best pic I got of Big Dog. He wouldn't stay still for a second:)
Rooster all up in my grill.
I found our slip and slide. So I put it out. GH loved it!

We had water fun earlier this week as well. Big Dog decided to fill the kitchen sink with water and dish detergent. When I walked into the kitchen there was water overflowing from the sink. A steady stream of water was flowing onto the counter tops, and onto the floor. The mountain of bubbles was actually quite impressive. Oh yeah---and there was a smiling boy. Captain Awesome says Big Dog is lucky he is so cute. That his good looks will probably get him out of a lot of trouble in the coming years.

Does anything taste better than hot dogs dipped in chocolate pudding?

Before you automatically answer "No, nothing tastes better than hot dogs dipped in chocolate pudding." consider this tasty treat..... Doritos dipped in cherry yogurt. Yeah, I'll let you think about that for a while.

Smashed Potato Time Part II

Thursday, June 25, 2009

I don't know how he got so screwed up.

But, I would like to remember him as the cute little boy in this video. Big Dog loves this song. Boy...I wonder why? :D

Captain Awesome's favorite MJ song is Billy Jean (although his fav video is Thriller)

My favorite is Smooth Criminal

GH dips

GH discovered that cookies taste even better when they are dunked in chocolate pudding. Later he dipped his hotdogs in pudding. Guess what....hotdogs taste good with pudding on them too! (BTW-- GH didn't just get get pudding and cookies for a meal. He had eaten a bunch of fruit before I gave him the treats. So don't judge me too harshly.)

Chillin' and Linny's Opera Performance

This is a picture of Linny after his opera performance this evening. It truly was riveting performance. Again, Rooster used the couch as a stage and the curtains as....well the curtains. Rooster told me that he was "doing a opera". Linny was introduced and Linny emerged from the curtains for "opening night". Then Rooster ....I mean Linny sang a bunch of stuff I couldn't make out. So I guess it was just like the opera:D
....and this makes complete sense:D

Big Dog loves his real name

The world is full of letters. But Big Dog favors his letters over all the others. He is especially proud that he has two t's in his name:) Unfortunately we lost the second t from the Word Whammer....so he couldn't complete his name:(

Can you see that he spelled out Brett? Maybe it's one of those things only a mommy can see;) He wrote it with a lowercase b. He doesn't understand that you use an upper case letter for the first letter in a name. He loves to throw capital/upper case letters in his name at random places sometimes:) Anyway, he wrote this on a Fathers Day card for grandpa.

GH's Sensory Activity

I filled up four plastic spice containers with water at varying temperatures. One container was "hot", the second was warm, the third was cold, and the fourth had frozen water in it. GH seemed to enjoy this activity.

Playgroup Fun

Karina and Addy enjoying the porch swing.

Everyone likes chalk!
GH visits with Cally.

Fun times with GH

GH likes to pretend that he is jumping on the trampoline:)
Do you ever get the feeling like someone is watching your every move?
Now how do I put on these shoes?

I almost have it.

It looks right. But, it feels like I forgot something.
Smashed Potato Time
This is a picture of GH after dinner last night. GH loves mashed potatoes. But he probably loves mashing potatos all over his face more than actually eatting the mashed potatos. Several times during the meal Rooster would come over to his side of the table with a napkin. She would happily clean him up as he giggled. Before she could sit back down, he would smile and smash the potatoes on his face again. GH giggled at Rooster and she laughed as she walked back over to him to clean him up again:)

I kind of lost him at the end;)

Happy Birthday Aimes!!!

When a Rooster needs more school

Rooster wanted to go to school today. When I told her it was Saturday and there was no school. She insisted again that she needed to go to school. So I told her that she couldn't go to school today but that we could have home school. She was very excited and used the term numerous times. So now what I called "activities" is now classified under "home school". I guess we will home school in the afternoon/evenings and on the weekends;) I hope she doesn't insist on a syllabus. I have so many supplies etc for our "home school" that I needed additional area to work with. This is a picture of our new area. It's small but I don't need a huge area. I used a coffee table and some small chairs for a seating area. And I placed the circle time rug in the corner.

Our life in sketches

I love "our life in sketches".....I always look so thin:)

Cute and disgusting at the same time

GH and Big Dog raided the fridge while I blogged this afternoon. He seems pretty happy with what he found.

Rooster thinks chopsticks

make great drumsticks.

Linny uses a hang glider

I had no idea that the Wonderpets were so resourceful. I was lucky enough to catch this picture of Linny using a clothes hanger as a hang glider.

Random stuff from this week

We went to a "magic show" at the library. It didn't end well for us. I think there were far too many people shoved into a small area. I also think it's fair to say that Rooster and I were equally disappointed that the magician/illusionist didn't dress in traditional attire. Who wants to see a magician wearing a red a black striped shirt? Super lame!!!
We are still adjusting to "Trouble".
The Parrot family came and visited. (Do you like that code name?) Princess H and Rooster had a great time playing outside, racing and playing dress-up. I have some awesome pictures of them playing dress-up. But, I didn't get permission to post them. But, I will send them to the Parrot family soon:)

I'm medicated....and feelin' good;)

Yesterday, I went to the doctors for my back pain. I'm loving my doctor right now because he gave me some great pain meds. I might have to do some physical therapy in the future. But, for now I'm just medicating it. It is sooooo nice not to be in constant pain.

What the toys have been up to.....

The Wonderpets went on a daring space mission. Tuck and Ming Ming have looked better.

I'm not sure about the fate of Linny:(

Lots and lots of pictures from our trip

Our trip to Two Rivers was a blast! These cute little cabooses can lodge up to 6 people. Rooster took a lot of pictures of the inside cabin. I hope to put them on her blog soon. So if you are interested in vacationing there you can check out the accommodations for yourself.
If you look closely you can see Big Dog looking out the window:)

GH was excited when we got inside the caboose.

We climbed up to the top of the caboose. The kids loved playing up there. Rooster loved playing with the lights.

I love this photo!

Awww

Time for smores

Rooster took this picture of GH and I.

Rooster fishin'

Big Dog fishin'

GH fishin'

There was tons of playground equipment at this state park.

Captain Awesome said this was easy.........

but, this was harder.

We spent time outside of the caboose blowing bubbles and playing catch.

Rooster and Big Dog enjoyed the lake.

GH did not like walking in the lake water.

But, GH did like splashing in a small puddle at the lake.

Look what I took a picture of;)

We threw some rocks in a lake. Rooster loved it!

Rooster and Big Dog hangin' out.

This is a picture from the dock at one of the lakes. We met a really nice guy there that had caught two fish. He let the kids look at them. The kids were pretty impressed. The fish were much more interesting than what we caught:)
