Our life in sketches---The boys

GH threw his toy submarine in the toilet after his bath tonight. I think this sketch captures my desperation in the moments before "the incident":D

The next incident happened a few days ago. We had some store bought cookies that were fantastic. Big Dog wanted to make sure he got more than his fair share. He created and implemented a pretty good plan considering the fact that he is only three years old.

Roosters First Day of School

Last night the school hosted an ice cream social. It was a great opportunity to meet the teachers and tour the school. Rooster seemed happy to meet the teachers and ran around the school happily. She was really excited when she ran into old friends:) This is a picture of Rooster in front of her locker.

The ice cream was delicious. It was the perfect dessert to top off the pizza we ordered to celebrate her first day of school. You may have noticed that the boys are missing. My friend Kim watched them for us. It was really nice to be able to focus all our attention on Rooster. I think she really appreciated the time with us. When we picked up the boys Kim offered us cake. We aren't the type of people who turn down cake. It was nice to be able to sit down and chat with such a nice family.

Before Rooster went to bed we received a surprise call from Aunt Shel. She was reading Cousin I a bedtime story called "The Night Before Kindergarten". And she thought Rooster might enjoy hearing it too. So she called and read this story to both of them at the same time. Isn't that sweet? Rooster clung to the phone as she laid in bed. Rooster was so happy:)

This morning we were a bit sad as we got our "baby" ready for her first day of kindergarten. It's so hard to believe she is a kindergartner. But, she is.

She's a big girl. But, she still loves her daddy:)
Last minute cuddles are the best.

Before she got on the bus she said "Here I come kindergarten!".

Today's Zoo Trip

Here are some pictures from today's trip to the zoo.

We decided to let the kids ride the carousel today. Here's a picture of Rooster.
GH was nervous at first.
Big Dog looked at me like I was crazy when I put him on the the giraffe.
Before we went home we stopped by the farm area. The kids always love petting the goats.

Pioneer Park

We went to Pioneer Park this morning. We all had a great time. GH loved seeing all the animals.

Big Dog loved the trails. He was running and jumping all over the place.
As we walked along a trail we saw these cages. They had a few different types of birds in them. GH saw the owl and watched it with a big smile on his face. Then he said "How you do?" So it wasn't us (his loving parents) that inspired his first sentence. It was some random owl;)

Rooster and GH loved this display. It had pictures of animals and a piece of their fur. I love a good sensory experience.

GH made himself comfortable in the bird nest.
The kids loved playing on this deck above a tiny lake.
This gate door can't hold Big Dog in! He didn't pull the door open because it was too heavy, he just squeezed through the bars.

Rooster has a serious mind......

While some people are just goofballs;)
Rooster liked the puzzles at the activity tables. This one was a bat. How often do you see bat puzzles?

Look at how happy Big Dog is? He loved our outing today:) GH decided that he was going to keep the bread for himself:) After GH helped himself to the bread. We decided that the kids might be hungry. We took the kids over to McDonalds for their first official Happy Meals. Big Dog and Rooster got cute little TY horses in their meals. GH didn't get a Happy Meal but one of the employees brought over a cute dog for him that someone had left behind.
Now that is refreshing:)
When we left I saw Charles S. a guy I was on swim team with as a kid. What a small world.

Lots and lots of pictures from our trip

Our trip to Two Rivers was a blast! These cute little cabooses can lodge up to 6 people. Rooster took a lot of pictures of the inside cabin. I hope to put them on her blog soon. So if you are interested in vacationing there you can check out the accommodations for yourself.
If you look closely you can see Big Dog looking out the window:)

GH was excited when we got inside the caboose.

We climbed up to the top of the caboose. The kids loved playing up there. Rooster loved playing with the lights.

I love this photo!

Awww

Time for smores

Rooster took this picture of GH and I.

There was tons of playground equipment at this state park.

Captain Awesome said this was easy.........

but, this was harder.

We spent time outside of the caboose blowing bubbles and playing catch.

Rooster and Big Dog enjoyed the lake.

GH did not like walking in the lake water.

But, GH did like splashing in a small puddle at the lake.

Look what I took a picture of;)

We threw some rocks in a lake. Rooster loved it!

Rooster and Big Dog hangin' out.

This is a picture from the dock at one of the lakes. We met a really nice guy there that had caught two fish. He let the kids look at them. The kids were pretty impressed. The fish were much more interesting than what we caught:)
