Fun with friends

The two princesses showed up for dinner.

We did some stamping. Jenna stuffed envelopes.

Playdoh is fun.

GH made an impressive mosaic.

We played with rice too.

Some rice ended up on the floor. But, GH helped clean it up.

Todays regular activites

Roosters worked on hand eye coordination by putting a pipe cleaner through a straw.

We made "juice" for our hummingbird feader.

Big Dog did some card match-ups.

Other activites

GH did a little work at the table with us. He loves magnets:)

He loved the salt too.

Big Dog can easily do his name puzzle now:)

I tried to do a little work with biggest to littlest.

But, Rooster decided to be goofy:)

Some activities from today

Rooster matched up shoes while Big Dog enjoyed an Oatmeal Creme pie:) Don't worry eventually Big Dog did the activity while Rooster scraped the remaining Oatmeal Creme pie off of the table:D Good Lord I'm an awesome mom:D

We did a memory game. I only have four memory cards right now. I've been making them from frozen juice containers. But, four is definitely where we need to start anyway. So it works out. I wasn't quick enough to get a picture of Big Dog actually doing this activity. He's a quick one. He got lucky and matched them immediately the first two times he did the game. So I gave up and just posed him for this picture:)

Rooster definitely understood the activity and seemed to enjoy it.

I tried to incorporate Dora into our positional activity. Rooster still didn't enjoy the activity.

I saw this cute idea on The Wonder Years blog.

At first Rooster didn't want to pour the water into the measuring spoons.

But, eventually she did it to make me happy. She enjoyed comparing the different amounts of water on the wax paper. She then used a sponge to wipe all the water off the wax paper.
Big Dog enjoyed watching the water drops move around. It was fun to smear them too:D
Later I gave them a bowl of water, a small cylinder vase, and a small sponge. They soaked up water from the bowl with the sponge. Then squeezed the sponge over the vase, filling the vase up. Big Dog really liked this activity once he got the hang of it.

*BTW--- I know my floors are filthy. Please don't judge me to harshly. I'm much to busy with my kids.....and looking ridiculously good looking, to waste my time with household chores:D

Activities

Rooster enjoyed matching colored paper clips to the matching paper. It didn't take her long to get the hang of using the paper clips:) I saw this on some Montessori blog. Sorry that I forgot which one:(

We did some writing.

I cut out the letters to the kids names on sandpaper. We put the letters in order then glued them onto some construction paper. As you can see these sheets have been through a lot. It's hard to keep impatient toddlers on task.

Anyway, we put another piece of construction paper over the names and did some shading with our colors. Big Dog was excited once he could see the letters in his name.
Rooster wasn't quite as excited. But, still enjoyed pointing out the letters to her name.

We did some sequence cards. This set was about making cookies. It took several times. But, she got the hang of it. Then we did the Noah's Ark sequence set as well.

We did some more Letter O coloring pages. I didn't really do any crafts for the letter O this week. Hopefully, I get something done tomorrow. If not I will just try to do better next week:)

Different shades

Remember those paint samples that I snagged from the store? Well we used them to work on shades. I showed them how there are several shades of colors. Showing real life examples of different shades of blue and yellow. Then I had Rooster sort samples into like colors.

Big Dog did some coloring today. But, maybe I should have been more concerned about brushing his hair:D



Then on Montessori Mama I saw her cute little ball tube. That ball tube was secured against the wall. I didn't have enough shipping tape for that. So I hung ours from the staircase. The kids enjoyed working the tube in different angles and trying to get the balls into the basket. The tube was also used as a mega phone and a telescope:D

A slow day for activities

I found these cute little fuzzy dice at the thrift store. We used them for a basic math activity. We each stood back, threw them at the closet door, then counted up the dots that were rolled. Rooster won all but two rolls.

I got this cute alphabet puzzle on Zwaggle.

We worked a little on pouring skills.

We worked on writing skills using our fingers in salt. We drew shapes, letters, and a cute little smiley face complete with big ears:)

Todays Activities

Inspired by Lisa's indoor snowman. I brought in snow and put it into the sink and let the kids go to town. These are the items I gave them to play with. The spray bottles are always a hit.

Rooster enjoyed using the ice cream scoop.

Big Dog realized he could make the snow disappear by turning on the faucet. Rooster was screaming "No!" and kept turning it off. But, Big Dog was persistent and eventually made all of the snow on his side disappear.

We put up our St. Patricks Day window clings. Big Dog really enjoyed taking them down:)

We used our left over Yo Gabba Gabba Valentines for collages. Then we hung them up in the kids bedrooms.

We read "The Mitten" and did some activities as posted on 10 Kids and a Dog. Rooster enjoyed putting the animals "into" the mitten.

We did some puzzles.

Rooster did a little cutting. She is getting better. Not because I help her. But, because I don't help her:) The school gets all the credit:) (BTW--I'm aware she doesn't have the best hand positioning. But, like I said before. I make it worse when I help)

We had to restart this project a few times because Big Dog had troubles. He could not wait patiently.

I used small vases to try to show the kids how different measuring cups hold different amounts of water. I did try to explain the three 1/3 cups equal one cup. But, they were only interested in the colors:)

We sorted flowers. Rooster sorted the white flowers. This ended up being a bit more difficult than she anticipated. But, she did a great job.

Big Dog was suppose to sort the colored flowers. But, dogs don't like flowers.
